Successful conclusion to the FERMA/Lloyd’s training programme – more to come

The programme is expected to continue next year with a re-launch planned at the FERMA Forum in Maastricht in October.

Lloyd’s and FERMA launched the programme at the 2011 FERMA Forum. It consisted of three two-day sessions in London. The course was a mix of practical and interactive sessions on topics which included Lloyd’s and the London insurance market, risk management, exposure management, international markets, emerging risks, the international regulatory context and claims management.

Edouard Thys, director of education at FERMA, said:
“This final session of the programme ended with the Lloyd’s approach to claims management and the international organisation of this extraordinary market. The Lloyd’s speakers brought their specialist knowledge to life through interactive sessions. Their combined focus on risk management and insurance fulfilled the educational aims of FERMA, which remain a key priority. The event was also an excellent networking opportunity.

“Training sessions like these are a blueprint for future events, particularly in the light of the risk managers’ certification FERMA envisages. I am pleased with the success of these education sessions and hope that such initiatives will be continued.”

Benno Reischel, Lloyd’s head of Northern Europe, who coordinated the development of the programme, said: “Through this cooperation with FERMA, Lloyd’s has gained greater insight into the needs of risk managers and the challenges they face. Knowledge transfer is paramount to manage risk and optimise the relationship between the insured, the broker and the insurer.

“I am delighted with the way FERMA and Lloyd’s have worked together to enable better understanding of the Lloyd’s market and the benefits it can bring to risk managers.”

One of the FERMA members who took part in the programme, Sabine Desantoine from Belgium, wrote: “I would like to thank you all for setting up and organizing the

FERMA/Lloyd’s professional development programme. It was an extraordinary way to better understand the Lloyd’s market and the way it works, as well as meeting other young European risk and insurance managers.”
