Risk managers and the SDGs: partnerships to build resilience

FERMA is a keen supporter of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This year’s European SDG Summit is called “impactful partnerships to build back better“. It takes place 26-30 October. The virtual summit is hosted by CSR Europe, a European network for corporate sustainability and responsibility.

The risk and insurance management community is an important partner both inside organisations, as well as externally to build resilience.

Corporate risk and insurance managers already have a framework that can be incredibly useful in terms of managing SDGs, or sustainability risks. This framework, the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework also offers a model of good governance and practices that can integrate sustainability into already existing practices.

On this theme, FERMA and its members are currently developing guidelines for risk managers on sustainability. For a short summary of our views please read FERMA’s short-paper here.
