Opinions, conclusions, worries and what he took away – a risk management student’s view of the 2017 FERMA Forum

“The FERMA forum was an eye-opening experience, which I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone interested in working with risk.” This is the conclusion of Niko Karhapää, a graduate student who was nominated by his association FinnRima to attend the 2017 FERMA Forum which took place from 15-18 October.

Niko is a student in the MSc programme of Insurance and Risk Management at the University of Tampere in Finland, which has been accredited by FERMA to offer education for the rimap certification. All students nominated by the associations were asked to provide a report on their experience and Niko’s was judged the best.

Ralph Mulder, FERMA board member with responsibility for education, said: “What made this the winning report? He clearly understood the bigger picture of what FERMA is offering during a Forum and highlighted all of our key functions. Also, his report stood out because of his opinions, conclusions, worries and what he took away from the Forum in terms of his expectations.
