Innovative Insurance Programme of the Year winner: Pauline Davoust, Global Head Insurance & Risk Management, Gate Gourmet

Pauline Davoust

Who is Pauline Davoust, our winner for the Innovative Insurance Programme of the Year Award?

Which challenges did you meet as a risk manager?

If you are convinced that your idea will have many benefits in the future in terms of cost, time and efficiency, do not hesitate to invest a lot of time today. In order to change an existing and traditional market, everybody needs to be convinced internally and externally that the new structure is better and to accept that the old structure could have issues and be improved.

Which solution(s) did you develop?

Traditionally, the insurance market offers separate solutions and differentiates Aviation Liability from the General (Non-Aviation) Liability. With the support of insurer Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty Switzerland, I developed a combined umbrella insurance policy wording including more than 60 countries.
The objectives were to:

  • reduce any coverage gaps and duplication in policy covers
  • have a clear risk delimitation and mutual understanding as to where specific risks are covered such as food contamination versus aircraft hit
  • simplify the process and administration
  • produce a policy wording which is more relevant and responsive to the specific business profile of my company

Do you think that winning this award could help elevate the profession and inspire others?

Yes, this award definitely helps to share with the risk manager community worldwide about innovations in our profession, from our perspective, and it motivates risk professionals to think outside the box and to challenge themselves and their existing structure and seek improvements in all possible areas.
