The Hellenic Association for Risk Managers has become a member of FERMA. This brings FERMA’s membership to a total of 22 national risk management associations in 21 European countries. Known as H.A.RI.MA, the association was established in December 2019 as the initiative of a group of senior executives active in risk management.

Dirk Wegener, the President of FERMA, said: “I am delighted to welcome Greece to FERMA. This demonstrates the development and professionalism of risk management in Europe, and shows the recognition of FERMA as the voice for the European risk manager.”

The primary objective of H.A.RI.MA is the recognition, institutionalisation and promotion of risk management in Greece.

According to Nicholas Gouzelos, the Chairman of H.A.RI.MA, it is very important for Greek risk managers not to be ‘isolated’ but learn from best practices and share knowledge and innovative approaches from other professionals with same interests. “Furthermore, a European representation of our efforts will strengthen our voice and eventually accelerate the success of our common goals,” he said in an interview published on the FERMA website.

The board’s top priorities for this year are

  • Assign organisation roles
  • Training
  • State recognition as a certificated professional body.
