ESAE’s role is to support association managers throughout Europe. Rather like FERMA itself for risk managers, it aims to increase recognition of the profession of association executive.

Florence said: “I am very pleased to join this board, and I am sure it will benefit FERMA, as well the professionalism of our industry sector.”

Florence has been executive manager for Brussels-based FERMA since 1999. She has a degree in law with a master’s degree in insurance law and a certificate in risk management. She speaks French, Spanish, English and Dutch.

ESAE, is related to ASAE in the US and other parts of the world, where it has 21 000 members. Newly elected President Alessandro Cortese, executive director of ESTRO, said: “I want to reposition ESAE as a platform for association executives to exchange and capture knowledge. At this stage the mission is ambitious and the Board works on the strategy and the developments of the future” ESAE plans to work closely with other organisations on the future European Association Summit.
