The Forum, that started at 9.30 in the Site of the Enterprise Confederation of Madrid (CEIM), benefited from the contribution of diverse experts such as Mrs. Ana Villanueva, Medical Director in MAPFRE Re; Mr. Pedro J. Ortiz, Medical Director in International SOS, Mr. Agustín Henche, from MUNICH Re; Mr. Félix Gómez, Tenured Professor of the Doctoral
School and Research of Europea University and Mr. Joaquín Alarcón, General Secretary of SEAIDA, (International Association of Insurance Rights), all of them moderated by Mr. José Miguel Rodríguez-Pardo del Castillo, from Carlos III University.

During the event all the experts stressed that, even though the first Ebola case occurred in Spain, the situation should be managed with caution and quietude since people can not be infected by the air, as occurred in other cases such as the avian flu.

“The Ebola can only be transmitted when people is in direct contact with the fluids of the sick person as blood, sweat, urine, semen, saliva or vomits”, said Mr. Gómez, who highlighted that Ebola can only be transmitted when the sick person presents the symptons of the virus, that appear between 2 and 21 days after the person is infected.

The symptons consist on high fever, general unrest, muscle aches, vomits, diarrhea, alteration of the renal and hepatic function and internal/external bleeding. In order to prevent and diminish the Ebola cases, Mr.Ortiz concluded that it is necessary to reduce “to the highest”, the number of health professionals and people close to the
infected person.
