Applications now open for next FERMA-Lloyd’s professional development programme

The fourth edition of this successful popular programme for risk managers will start in April 2018. Applications are now open with FERMA member associations and close on 31 January 2018. More than 60 risk managers from 21 countries have now attended the programme since it was launched in 2012.

In October this year, FERMA and Lloyd’s, signed an agreement that confers CPD points for FERMA’s rimap certification programme to the delegates of the Ferma/Lloyd’s Professional Development Programme for European risk managers.

Through a series of interactive sessions, delegates explore real-life claims management scenarios, and will hear the latest on risk transfer solutions for emerging risks such as artificial intelligence and robotics.  There will be specific discussions which are tailored to fit the profile of the delegates’ industries, and risk managers will also have the opportunity to have a hands-on experience of the Lloyd’s market by shadowing underwriters and brokers, as well as networking with their peers and the Lloyd’s market.

Ralph Mulder, FERMA board member, said: “FERMA has a strong focus on education, and one of our main goals is the improvement and strengthening of knowledge and expertise of European risk managers.

“This programme is one of the best investments risk managers can make in their careers and to add value to their companies.  CDP points are linked to continuous professional development, and I hope that this will be an extra incentive for risk managers to attend and continue building on their careers. I am looking forward to meeting the new delegates.”

Benno Reischel, Lloyd’s Head of Europe, said: “The feedback from the course has been great.  Risk managers tell us that the programme has helped them to gain the knowledge and the tools to grow in their roles.  And there is a great sense of community between the alumni of the programme, so they also gain a supportive, international network of peers which can last throughout their career.

“For 2018 we have put together a series of innovations, such as sessions on data, AI and robotics and interactive sessions that will explore real-life scenarios. We will also continue to tailor each programme according to the delegate’s industries, to make it as relevant as possible.”
